Performa
Floor
Performa Floor was created to produce the finest instrument enhancers for your talent - Tap. The first portable floor we made was huge - sixteen sections - and we thought that was portable. It was used for "Tapping with Masters", here in Portland Or. None other than Gregory Hines got down on his knees in front of the whole audience and kissed it, proclaiming it to be the best floor he had ever danced on. ITA (International Tap Association) had nothing but compliments for the floor. Then came Performa Floor- the " Original Roll-Out Hardwood Floor". The late Al Arthur had made a few of these that originated from an older version in the late 1920's. We were given the blessing and authority to purchase the remaining wood he had. From there we researched and found just the right backing and the best glue on the market. This is how we are able to give you a LIFE TIME WARRANTY. The glue and canvas support the wood so well, we guarantee that the wood and canvas bond will never fail. Using our background and knowledge of the hardwood flooring industry, we created a floor that is as tight and flat as the hardwood floor in your home. We start by hand selecting the rough cut Maple or Brazilian Cherry then mill it to perfection, using all quartersawn cuts to give you the hardest most durable part of the tree. Only the finest pieces are used to create your instrument enhancer. The finish is the best available from the commercial market and yields a fine, non-slippery surface. This product also enables you to lightly sand and re-coat on your own. No waxing or hard scrubbing. Water & vinegar to clean and a mild soap to help with those black marks from your taps. Once all the steps are completed you now have the Performa Floor. Performa Floors was used during the filming of the movie, "The Dean of Taps", featuring the late Charles Honi Coles. Oregon Public Broadcasting used the floor for the studio portion and mentioned how great the sound was in their sound booth. Savion Glover and Ira Bernstein each have a Performa Floor. It allows them the assurance of stability and sound created from the milling of the wood and their talent for Tap. If you want to talk to me personally e-mail us or call 503-289-5589 (Brenda).
